Nationalfonds der Republik Österreich für Opfer des NationalsozialismusNationalfonds der Republik Österreich für Opfer des Nationalsozialismus (National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism), established by the Nationalrat in 1995 in order to award victims of National Socialism of Austrian origin a monetary compensation (ATS 70,000). This compensation is supposed to be a symbolic gesture to all people subject to persecution between 1938 and 1945 for political reasons, reasons of origin, nationality, sexual orientation, mental or physical handicap or people persecuted as "antisocial persons". Up to December 1999, 26,000 payments had been made from the fund.
