Muhr, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of Tamsweg, alt. 1,124 m, pop. 673 (1981: pop. 747), area 115.96 km2, in the Murwinkel area, Lungau region; parts of the municipality lie in the Hohe Tauern National Park. - Storage power stations Hintermuhr (built 1991, 36.2 MW) and Rotgülden (built 1956, 5.9 MW), Murfall small power station (built 1992, 0.76 MW). Some summer tourism. - Baroque parish church (1532 first documented mention, extended 1732) with columned high altar (1732), in summer "Corpus Christi poles" (Prangstangen); chapels (19th to 20th centuries); former arsenic mine (oldest mining activity of the Lungau region, 2nd half of 14th century); ruins of a gold mine settlement in Schellgaden; custom: Samson Procession; Murfall waterfall, Lakes Oberer Rotgüldensee and Unterer Rotgüldensee nearby.
