Merkatz, KarlMerkatz, Karl, b. Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria), Nov. 17, 1930, actor. Engagements in Heilbronn, Nuremberg, Salzburg, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Mörbisch and at the Vienna Volkstheater. Became famous through films ("Der Bockerer" I-III, directed by F. Antel, 1981-2000) and TV series (Mundl in "Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter" by R. Schwabenitzky, 1974-1977). From 1993 musical roles ("Der Mann von La Mancha", 1993; "Anatevka", 1997).
