Longwy (France), 1666, d. near Parma (Italy), June 29, 1734, killed in action, Field Marshal; adoptive father of Count Florimund Mercy d´Argenteau. From 1682 in Austrian service, distinguished himself in the War of the Spanish Succession, in the War of the Polish Succession and in the Turkish war.
