Merbot Merbod, Marbod, Seliger


Merbot (Merbod, Marbod), beatified, d. Alberschwende (Vorarlberg), March 23, 1120, monk in the Benedictine monastery Mehrerau, later hermit and pastor in Alberschwende, where he was murdered. According to legend descendant of the Counts of Bregenz and brother of the beatified Diedo in Andelsbuch and of the beatified Ilga. Chapel built in the Middle Ages above M.´s grave in Alberschwende and rebuilt in 1752 is now a place of pilgrimage. Local feast day on the 1st Thursday in Lent.
