Menasse, RobertMenasse, Robert, b. Vienna, June 21, 1954, narrative writer, essayist and translator. 1981-1986 lecturer in Austrian literature at the University of São Paulo (Brazil). In his novels discusses the position of the individual in a world of social and political change. His essays concentrate on defining the position of Austrian literature. Awarded the Austrian State Prize for Cultural Journalism in 1999.
