Mehl, ErwinMehl, Erwin, b. Klosterneuburg, Lower Austria, March 28, 1890, d. Klosterneuburg, Dec. 28, 1984, sports scientist and researcher, studied the history of sports (esp. swimming, skiing, apparatus gymnastics, ball games and mountaineering). Promoted numerous sports activities; from 1921 university lecturer, 1927-65 head of the University Sports Institute; awarded honorary professorship in 1941, founded the Zdarsky society in 1958.
