Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG


Mayr-Melnhof Karton AG, the world´s largest company producing cardboard from waste paper; founded in 1888, European market leader in the production of folding boxes (processing capacity in 1999: 270,000 tons). Since 1950 high-quality cardboard has been produced at the parent company at Frohnleiten (Styria). Employees: approx. 5,000. Annual output: 1.2 million tons of cardboard. Consolidated turnover (1998): 12.5 billion ATS. Went public in 1994. The company has forty-two branches in Europe.
