Mayer, Horst FriedrichMayer, Horst Friedrich, b. Vienna, Nov. 28, 1936, journalist and author. Started his career working for the Austrian edition of the "Hör-Zu" radio and TV magazine in 1962, changed to the weekly "Die Furche" in the same year, of which he was deputy editor-in-chief in 1968-69. Chief editor of "Salzburger Volkszeitung" (1969), then joined ORF (working at first for the radio, later for TV). From 1974 in charge of foreign policy, 1986-94 editor-in-chief of the News Section, television anchorman until 1997. Author of non-fiction books (especially on naval issues).
