Mauer, Otto


Mauer, Otto, b. Brunn am Gebirge (Lower Austria), Feb. 14, 1907, d. Vienna, Oct. 3, 1973, Catholic writer, journalist and educator, spiritual adviser to university graduates and artists, preacher at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. 1946 co-founder and publisher of the paper "Wort und Wahrheit", 1955 founder and head of the art gallery "Galerie nächst St. Stephan", which has become an important exhibition place for avant-garde art.
