Manöver

Manoeuvres, realistic military exercises with two parties of different size operating in accordance with a scenario. Unlike manoeuvres in the 18th century, which were similar to military parades, the manoeuvres of the Austrian army in Italy under Radetzky served to prepare the troops for action. Up to the beginning of the First World War manoeuvres in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy were solemn occasions ("Imperial Manoeuvres" if in the emperor's presence) on a grand scale. In the Second Republic, the Federal Army holds major exercises almost every year.
