Liebitzky, Emil - Liesingtal (18/25)
Lienzer Dolomiten Lieser

Lienzer Klause

Lienzer Klause Gorge, East Tirol, narrows in the Drautal valley south of Lienz (municipality of Leisach), eastern border of Pustertal valley. Name first mentioned in 1253. Its favourable defensive location once led to the building of a fortification (today Lienzer Klause Ruin near Burgfrieden) and was repeatedly of military use, the last time in the Tirolean peasants' uprising of in 1809.
