Liechtenstein, Johann I. Joseph Fürst


Liechtenstein, Prince Johann I Joseph, b. Vienna, June 26, 1760, d. Vienna, April 20, 1836, field marshal, 1788-1791 fought in the war against the Turks, 1792-1709 against the French (1799 victory at the River Trebbia), after resignation of Archduke Karl was made commander-in-chief, negotiated the peace treaties of Bratislava 1805 and Schönbrunn 1809. Fell into disfavour and resigned. 1807 acquired Liechtenstein castle and built the Husarentempel in Mödling, Lower Austria.
