Lesachtal, Kärnten


Lesachtal Valley, Carinthia, uppermost part of the valley of the River Gail in Carinthia, also called Waldtal, stretches from the border between East Tirol and Carinthia to Kötschach-Mauthen (alt. 705 m). In East Tirol the valley dug by the River Gail is called Tilliach Valley. Borders the Lienz Dolomite Mountains and Gailtal Alps in the north, the Karnisch Alps in the south. Most settlements (e.g. Luggau and Liesing) and paths 300 m above the bottom of the valley. The municipality of Lesachtal (area 19.62 km2, pop. 1,665 ) comprises the villages Liesing, Maria Luggau and Sankt Lorenzen im Lesachtal.
