Leon, Gottlieb von auch Augustin Edler von Leon


Leon, Gottlieb von (also known as Augustin Edler von Leon), b. Vienna, April 16, 1757, d. Vienna, Sept. 27, 1830, poet. From 1816 curator at the Vienna Court Library; mainly known as editor of the "Wiener Musen-Almanach" (1795/96), the most important publication for authors at the time of Austrian Emperor Joseph II. He wrote prose idylls as well as poetry and ballads in the tradition of the "Göttinger Hainbund" (poetry circle).
