Depicted with a grid, preceded St. Florian as patron of fire, then patron of the poor, librarians, charcoal-burners and bakers; 77 churches in his name in Austria; his churches often indicate old Roman settlements which were christianized very early. In the past important horse markets were held on L.´s day.
