Lauda Air Luftfahrt AGLauda Air Luftfahrt AG, airline founded in 1979, capital stock 340 billion ATS, shares (1998): 30 % Nikolaus Lauda, 36 % Austrian Airlines, 20 % Lufthansa, the rest widespread share holdings. Originally founded as a request airline with 2 aeroplanes, first scheduled flights to the Far East in 1988, since August 1990 world wide licence for scheduled flights; since July 1992 co-operation with the German airline Lufthansa, since March 1997 with Austrian Airlines. The flying routes comprise (1999) 19 European destinations and 11 destinations on other continents as well as many charter flight destinations. The Lauda Air fleet includes (1999) 23 airliners and with an average aircraft age 4.3 years is one of the youngest fleets in the world. In 1997/98 there were 852,285 passengers on scheduled flights and 682,545 passengers on charter flights. Turnover in 1997/98: 4.35 billion ATS, annual earnings: 49.2 million ATS; 1,500 employees world-wide.
