KunstsenatKunstsenat (Arts Senate), collegiate body of outstanding Austrian artists (21 life members), consisting only of recipients of the Großer Österreichischer Staatspreis (state prize, first awarded in 1950) established by the Federal Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. Its task is to make proposals for the award of the State Prize and to study current issues affecting the arts in Austria; it has expert status concerning legislation on art and cultural matters.
