KollegKolleg, introduced in 1986, special institution of higher education offering instruction in a vocational or technical field; graduates from secondary schools are additionally taught the curriculum either of a secondary school of technology (HTL) or of commerce and trade (HBLA) or a commercial academy (Handelsakademie - HAK) in 4 semesters, or of a commercial secondary school (Handelsschule) in 3 semesters.
