Koenig, OttoKoenig, Otto, b. Vienna, Oct. 23, 1914, d. Klosterneuburg (Lower Austria), Dec. 5, 1992, zoologist, author, originally photographer, follower of K. Lorenz. Together with his wife Lilli K. founded and became head of the Biologische Station Wilhelminenberg (Vienna), an institute of Comparative Ethology (1945). Major achievements in the protection of nature and wildlife in Austria; gained popularity with the television series "Wunder der Tierwelt". Undertook expeditions to Africa. Works: Das Buch vom Neusiedler See, 1961; Das Paradies vor unserer Tür, 1971; Tier und Mensch, 1981; Verhaltensforschung in Ö. - K. Lorenz 80 Jahre, 1983; Ti.
