Kleiber, ErichKleiber, Erich, b. Vienna, Aug. 5, 1890, d. Zurich (Switzerland), Jan. 27, 1956, conductor, father of Carlos Kleiber. Started his career in Prague, from 1923-1934 was musical director of the Berlin State Opera, numerous international performances; later guest conductor, during World War II especially in the USA and South America, from the 1950s again in Europe.
