Mooswald (Carinthia), Dec. 3, 1953, racing skier, motor racer. 1973 won his first of altogether 25 World Cup races; 1974 world champion in alpine combined, 1976 gold medal winner in downhill at the Olympic Games in Innsbruck; 5-time overall downhill World Cup winner (1975-1978, 1983). After retiring from ski racing turned to motor racing in 1985: Austrian touring car champion, various victories in the European touring car championship (Nürburgring) and in 1000-km-competitions (Bathurst, Australia), consultant and motivation trainer.
