Vienna, Oct. 3, 1941, composer, opera conductor, librettist, writer. From 1886 conductor of the Styrian Musical Society in Graz, from 1917 in Vienna. Known for his popular operas "Der Evangelimann" (1895) and "Kuhreigen" (1911). Composed the national anthem of the 1st Republic.
