Kein, Ernst Aloysius


Kein, Ernst (Aloysius), b. Vienna, Nov. 27, 1928, d. Vienna, Jan. 21, 1985, poet, narrative writer, feuilletonist, author of radio plays. 1950/51 worked for the literary magazine "Neue Wege". Together with H. C. Artmann and G. Rühm he established Viennese dialect poetry. Particularly well known for his humorous short poems and his vernacular Viennese aphorisms published between 1974-1985 in the daily newspaper "Neue Kronen Zeitung". Awarded promotion prizes for his work (Austrian State Prize) in 1958 and 1976.
