KautzenKautzen, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya, alt. 525 m, pop. 1,389, area 35.42 km2, situated in the northern Waldviertel near the Czech border. - Customs post, small combined heating and power station; textile industry ( since the 17th century production of woven textiles, now terry and felt materials are produced); originally Gothic-Baroque parish church with façade tower from 1806/1807, altered between 1868 and 1870, historicist design; former paper mill (main part from the 17th century).
