Kautzen


Kautzen, Lower Austria, market town in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya, alt. 525 m, pop. 1,389, area 35.42 km2, situated in the northern Waldviertel near the Czech border. - Customs post, small combined heating and power station; textile industry ( since the 17th  century production of woven textiles, now terry and felt materials are produced); originally Gothic-Baroque parish church with façade tower from 1806/1807, altered between 1868 and 1870, historicist design; former paper mill (main part from the 17th  century).
