Katzianer, HansKatzianer, Hans, b. Katzenstein Castle, Mačkin hrib, Slovenia, end of the 15th century, d. Kostainica Castle (Croatia), Oct. 27, 1539, Baron, lansquenet leader. Entered into service with Ferdinand I in 1522, colonel of the Inner Austrian lands and governor of Carniola. Fought in Slovakia, Croatia and Austria against the Turks, was indicted after the defeat of Esseg in 1537, fled, but was assassinated by Count Zrinyi. Literature: NDB.
