Karmarsch, Karl, b. Vienna, Oct. 17, 1803, d. Hanover (Germany), March 24, 1879, technologist. Studied at the polytechnical school in Vienna and was an assistant of G. Altmütter; 1830-1875 professor and director at the Technical school in Hannover, which became one of the leading schools of technology in Germany under his management. K. is regarded as the founder of mechanical technology.
