New York (USA), Jan. 24, 1956, (film-)actor, son of Carl Karlweis; from 1919 at various Vienna theatres (amongst others Theater in der Josefstadt) and at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm in Berlin. 1938-1945 exile in Paris and New York, where he performed together with K. Farkas in German-language theatres for emigrés and on the radio. After the War guest performances at the Salzburg Festival and at Vienna theatres. Also acted in films (e.g. "Die drei von der Tankstelle" with H. Rühmann and W. Fritsch, 1930).
