Karczag, Wilhelm, b. Karcag (Hungary), Aug. 28, 1857, d. Baden (Lower Austria), Oct. 11, 1923, theatre manager, playwright, journalist. Wrote only in Hungarian language. 1901 manager of the Theater an der Wien, where he initiated an operetta revival; also manager of the Raimundtheater from 1908-1921, and of the Wiener Stadttheater from 1917-19. After his death his son-in-law H. Marischka managed the Theater an der Wien.
