Kammerer, Paul, b. Vienna, Aug. 17, 1880, d. Puchberg am Schneeberg (Lower Austria), Sept. 23, 1926 (suicide), biologist. Tried to prove in experiments that acquired traits could be inherited and claimed that intentional mutations were the real driving force of evolution. Committed suicide when suspected of having falsified the results of his experiments.
