Kálmán, Emmerich, b. Siófok (Hungary), Oct. 24, 1882 d. Paris (France), Oct. 30, 1953, operetta composer. Started his career in 1908, wrote his first operettas for Budapest, major successes between the World Wars in Vienna. Emigrated in 1939 (Paris, later USA), returned to Paris in 1949.


Works: Csardasfürstin, 1915; Die Faschingsfee, 1917; Gräfin Mariza, 1924; Die Zirkusprinzessin, 1926; Der Teufelsreiter, 1932; Kaiserin Josephine, 1936.
