Graz, April 27, 1882, law graduate and statesman; brother of Franz Kalchegger von Kalchberg, nephew of Johann Nepomuk Kalchegger von Kalchberg. Became a professor at the Theresianische Ritterakademie in 1835; taught the sons of Archduke Karl and later administered his estates; 1848 became a representative in the National Assembly in Frankfurt; 1850-1855 carried out land reforms in Silesia and Galicia; 1863-1865 Minister of Trade.
