Josephinisches StrafgesetzJosephinisches Strafgesetz (Josephinian Criminal Code), a general penal code dealing with crimes and their penalties, replaced the Constitutio Criminalis Theresiana in 1787. The death penalty was only applicable under military law. Criminal court proceedings (Inquisitionsprinzip) were laid down in the rules of the criminal court in 1788.
