Jochenstein AG, Donaukraftwerk


Jochenstein AG, Donaukraftwerk, hydroelectric power station company, founded on the basis of an agreement between Germany, the Free State of Bavaria, and Austria on February 15, 1952, with headquarters in Passau and a branch office in Schärding (Upper Austria). The J. power station was built from 1952-1956 and has 5 Kaplan turbines with a capacity of 28 Megawatts each, and 5 rotary current synchronous generators (maximum electric capacity 132 Megawatts, normal energy capability 850 million kilowatt-hours). Electricity consumers: Rhein-Main-Donau AG (50%) and Österreichische Elektrizitätswirtschaft AG (Verbundkonzern) (50%). Since 1999 the power station has been operated by Grenzkraftwerke GmbH.
