Jacquin, Joseph Franz Freiherr vonJacquin, Joseph Franz, Baron, b. Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia (then Schemnitz), Feb. 7, 1766, d. Vienna, Dec. 9, 1839, botanist. Son of Baron Nikolaus von Jacquin, studied medicine, 1791 professor of chemistry and botany, 1797 succeeded his father as the head of the Botanical Garden in Vienna, which was enlarged under his management.
