Vienna, Feb. 24, 1961, actor, operetta singer, comedian, brother of the composer of Viennese songs, Ernst Arnold. 1919 engagement at the Theater an der Wien; performances at all Viennese theatres (except for the Burgtheater). Various tours through Germany and the Netherlands and, with R. Tauber, through Switzerland and Italy. Guest performances in Prague, Budapest and Paris. 1945-1948 manager of the Raimundtheater in Vienna. Also appeared in motion pictures (about 170 films). Literature: NDB.
