Hummel, Joseph Friedrich


Hummel, Joseph (Friedrich), b. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Aug. 14, 1841, d. Salzburg, Aug. 29, 1919, musician. 1881 first headmaster of the music school of the international foundation "Mozarteum" in Salzburg, where he founded and directed his own orchestra; conducted various premières in Salzburg and contributed decisively to the world-wide fame of Salzburg as a city of music.
