Hohlbaum, RobertHohlbaum, Robert, b. Krnov, Czech Republic (then Jägerndorf), Aug. 28, 1886, d. Graz (Styria), Feb. 4, 1955, librarian and writer. Prominent author of much-read popular and nationalist works during the 1st Republic. In his historical novels (Grenzland, 1921; Zukunft, 1922; Die deutsche Passion, 1924) he spoke against democracy and in favour of annexation to the German Reich. Wrote "Fuehrer-novels" heroising the Fuehrer (Stein, 1934), worked for the then illegal NSDAP on cultural and educational policies. Awarded A. Stifter Prize (literary prize) in 1951.
