Hohenems, Jakob HannibalHohenems, Count Jakob Hannibal von, b. Bludenz (Vorarlberg), May 13, 1530, d. Hohenems, Dec. 27, 1587, mercenary squadron leader; brother of Mark Sittich von Hohenems, father of Kaspar von Hohenems and Marcus Sitticus von Hohenems. Fought in the armies of Karl V and Philipp II; was appointed head of the troops of the Vatican by his uncle Pope Pius IV; afterwards papal legate in Spain. From 1567 resided in Altems Castle, which he considerably enlarged and where he amassed a noteworthy art collection.
