Hinterautal

Hinterau Valley, Tirol, source valley of the River Isar in the Karwendelgebirge mountains. The River Isar has its source south-east of the Große Seekarspitze mountain (2,677 m) and runs in a westerly direction towards Scharnitz (alt. 964 m). The Vomper Loch region of the Hinterau Valley connects Scharnitz with Vomp (alt. 563 m) and Schwaz (alt. 545 m) in the Inn Valley; the uppermost part of the Isar Valley (in Austria largely uninhabited) is called Lafatscher Tal valley.
