Herzmansky, AugustHerzmansky, August, b. Odry (Czech Republic), June 26, 1834, d. Vienna, Dec. 5, 1896, textile trader. In 1848 came to Vienna; after his apprenticeship worked at the lace factory of E. Schopp, founded a shop for textiles and expanded it to a large textile store with carefully calculated, fixed prices, the H. general department store in Vienna emerged from it (sold to the Dutch-German group Peek & Cloppenburg in 1998).
