Hellmesberger, FerdinandHellmesberger, Ferdinand, b. Vienna, Jan. 24, 1863, d. Vienna, March 15, 1940, cellist and conductor; son of Josef Hellmesberger Sr., brother of Josef Hellmesberger Jr. From 1879 member of the court orchestra and from 1883 of the H.-Quartet; 1902-1905 musical director at the Volksoper in Vienna; from 1910 the conductor of the orchestras in the spas of Baden, Marienbad, Karlsbad and Abbazia.
