HeldenplatzHeldenplatz, Vienna. The Äußerer Burgplatz square of the Hofburg palace was planned under Emperor Franz Joseph as part of the Emperor´s Forum but never finished; enclosed by the Leopoldinischer Trakt tract to the north-east, the Neue Hofburg palace to the south-east (Hofburg, Kaiserforum) and by the Äußeres Burgtor gate to the south-west towards the Ringstraße boulevard (Heldendenkmal). To the north-west it remained open, offering a wide view of the western part of the Ringstraße (Parliament, Town Hall, Burgtheater). Two equestrian statues of Prince Eugène and Archduke Karl by A.
