HeiligenstadtHeiligenstadt, until 1892 independent municipality, since then part of Vienna´s 19th district. Viniculture since Roman times. Several times destroyed by Hungarians, Turks and the French. Medicinal springs from Roman times (thermae cetiae) until the 19th century. Beethoven memorial (1910) in Heiligenstadt Park, Beethoven house at Probusgasse no. 6, where Beethoven wrote his Heiligenstadt Testament on October 6, 1802. Grave from late Antiquity or early Christian era in the Romanesque St. Jakob church. The Heiligenstadt charnel house is the only one that has been preserved in Vienna (built around 1500).
