Haus der NaturHaus der Natur ("House of Nature"), founded in 1924 by E. P. Tratz, museum of descriptive and applied biology in the city of Salzburg displaying aspects of nature from all over the world. It comprises 80 showrooms, e.g. space room, C. Doppler exhibition, dinosaur room, Tibet, Marine World and human biology exhibitions as well as a large aquarium with 41 show pools. Affiliated to it are an institute of ecology, a national park institute, the E.P. Tratz research centre on the Großglockner mountain and the Salzburg Observatory. Several scientific working parties of the Österreichischer Naturschutzbund (Association for Nature Protection) and its youth organisation, the Österreichische Naturschutzjugend, are based at the Haus der Natur 1993: 294,257 visitors.
