Haffner, Karl eigentlich K. Schlechter


Haffner, Karl (real name: K. Schlechter), b. Kaliningrad, Russia (then Königsberg), Nov. 8, 1804, d. Vienna, Feb. 29, 1876, actor, resident writer at the Theater an der Wien (1841), later at the Theater in der Josefstadt.


Works: Österreichisches Volkstheater, 3 vols., 1845f.; Therese Krones, 1862 (drama); Scholz und Nestroy, 3 vols., 1864-1866 (novel); libretto to "Fledermaus" by J. Strauß (1874); song farces.
