Gruscha, Anton Josef, b. Vienna, Nov. 3, 1820, d. Kranichberg (municipality of Kirchberg am Wechsel, Lower Austria), Aug. 5, 1911, prince-archbishop of Vienna (1890), cardinal (1891), military vicar apostolic of the Royal and Imperial Armed Forces (from 1890-1911); pioneered the Catholic Journeymen's Associations in Austria ("father G.", Gesellenbetreuung), Catholic unions and church building in Vienna, professor at the University of Vienna.
