Grünbaum, Fritz, b. Brno, Czech Republic (then Brünn), April 7, 1880, d. Dachau concentration camp (Germany), Jan. 14, 1941, comedian, actor, dancer, producer, author; In 1906 first performance in the Viennese cabaret "Die Hölle", from 1907 in Berlin, from 1914 back in Vienna; artistic director of the revue "Simpl", where he developed the "Doppelconférence" ("cabaret duet" or dialogue between 2 cabaret entertainers) with K. Farkas, director of several smaller Viennese theatres; founded the "Boulevard-Theater" in 1927; arrested in 1938.


Works: operetta librettos: Die Dollarprinzessin, 1907 (with A. M. Willner); Der Liebeswalzer, 1908 (with R. Bodanzky); Die Czikosbaronesse, 1920; Traumexpress, 1931 (with K. Farkas). - Comedy: Sturmidyll, 1914. - Revues, literary articles, poetry, lyrics for light entertainment (Draußen in Schönbrunn, Ich hab das Fräuln Helen baden sehn). - Editions: Die Schöpfung und andere Kabarettstücke, 1984; Die Hölle im Himmel und andere Kleinkunst, 1985; Der leise Weise 1992 (all publ. by H. Veigl).
