Drew sketches of Vienna, wrote accounts of cultural history. published several pocket books and the newspaper "Conversationsblatt" in 1819-1821. Established the first Austrian encyclopaedia, the "Österreichische National-Encyklopädie", together with J. J. Czikann (6 vols., 1835-1837). Further works: Kleine Wiener Memoiren und Wiener Dosenstücke, 5 vols., 1845/1846 (selection in 2 vols., 1918/1922); Vermischte Wiener Skizzen, 8 vols., 1845-1849; Wienerische Kurzweil, 1846. - Neue Wiener Tabletten, 1848.
