Graf, Max, b. Vienna, Oct. 1, 1873, d. Vienna, June 24, 1958, music historian and critic, father of Herbert Graf, student of E. Hanslick, A. Bruckner und G. Adler, in 1902 professor at the Academy of Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna; 1938-1947 in New York; most famous music critic of the inter-war era.


Works: Moderne Musik, 1946; Legende einer Musikstadt, 1949; Geschichte und Geist der modernen Musik, 1953; Die Wiener Oper, 1955; Jede Stunde war erfüllt, 1957.
